In support of developing our innovative NK cell therapies, we are looking for (Senior) Scientist Process Development, home based in the United States (preferably East Coast). 

 

The role  

As a (Senior) Scientist Process Development, you will be part of the US-centered CMC team for NK cell products; You will be responsible for the US PD activities with C(D)MO’s. It will be your responsibility to lead process development activities at the C(D)MO and work with the Amsterdam (NL) based PD team for technical transfer and implementation of new or improved versions of (or parts of) the manufacturing process for NK cell therapy. In your day-to-day you will: 

  • Lead and coordinate PD work at the C(D)MO and with the EU based PD team. 

  • Work closely with the C(D)MO for troubleshooting, impact assessments and document review. 

  • Perform technical review of batch records or associated documents. 

  • Apply expert knowledge to help shape the CMC strategy with US and EU teams and leaders. 

  • Work with the different teams to stay aligned on content and strategy and create synergy in activities taking place at multiple sites. 

  • Generate (source) documents for regulatory filings and work with CMC and regulatory function leads in answering regulatory questions. 

 

The department  

The Kiadis Operations team is responsible for all aspects of CMC development, manufacturing, procurement, planning and customer service. We are a group of experienced professionals – cell therapy experts, biologists, engineers, analysts, production associates, and more, driven by the passion to develop and supply innovative cell therapy products, directly to patients. We work through a global network of internal and external laboratories and production facilities, and interact on a daily basis with apheresis centers and hospitals around the world. The ideal candidate 

We are looking for someone with great communication skills, that is not afraid to address tough situations and has a true problem-solving mindset. You are adaptive to change, flexible and like working on changing priorities. In addition, we are looking for the following requirements: 

  • PhD in cell biology, immunology, biotechnology, process engineering or related fields. 

  • At least 5 years of experience in a related field, preferably in industrial cell therapy or other biopharmaceutical process development/CMC development. 

  • Excellent knowledge of (primary) cell culture (ideally NK-cells, T-cells, other immune cells or stem cells), cell metabolism, media/feed optimization, perfusion and scale up.  

  • Experience in representing Process Development function in CMC teams for early and late-stage development projects. 

  • Experience working in matrix environment on cross-functional teams. 

  • Experience in managing development and manufacturing activities at a C(D)MO. 

  • Ideally is based in the East Coast and willing to accommodate both US & EU time zones, is open to travel up to 25% (mostly within the US, occasionally to EU). 

  • Fluency in English, other languages are a plus.
